Under: Word for the week
Last
week we started sharing on the necessity of personally propagating the
gospel of Christ into all the world as the scale of darkness brings
scare and hopelessness into the hearts of many. The phrase “into all the
world” implies geographical, cultural, economic and global aspects of
propagating the Kingdom of God into all the world. There are however
some paradoxes in the world which certainly needs much study and
revelation from God. Our motivation in seeking others whom God has also
called into His fold is love. Because we love them to know the Lord, we
want to connect as many as we can to Him. Reaching others has never been
more easy and rapid than in our time because of available technology
such as the internet, radio, TV, literature, cars and budget planes.
This is literally speeding up the propagation of Truth into all the world, but just as this is happening, so also is the increase in lawlessness into all the world. One glitch in the economy of one nation can quickly bring panic into many investors in the same region. Such is what is happing today in the Eurozone where one nation after the other is being afflicted by this economic fear. Irrational fear can quickly destroy the economy of a nation because money or the current treasuries of many nations are now bankrolled by those who are rich and have reserves.
This growth in technology, knowledge was prophesied by the prophet Daniel that in the last days, knowledge shall increase. With this corresponding increase in knowledge and technology, the windows of Heaven have also been opened for us to go up higher and into the Lord’s secret chamber. In this chamber, we should continually dwell, worship, obey and learn from Him because the days in which we live have already been planned long time ago and we do not have a more sure understanding of what is in store for us than what the Lord tell us in His Word. Jesus is the Bread of Life, the provision sent by the Father to keep us from dying and from eating the wrong food or drinking the wrong drink. As long as we keep our eyes on Him, we will be safe, but once we also drift from Him, we need to go back so that we don’t imperil ourselves from the basilisk. Learn from Me, for I am humble and gentle of heart, He said, and this should all drive us to His feet.
Learning from the Lord requires that we worship and love Him truly for no one can learn from Him who does not cherish the truth in His heart. Every time we disregard His voice, we also learn to disobey Him and every time we obey His voice, we also learn to obey Him. “To him who has, more will be given” is a principle that we should do well to remember. As the world crumbles and paranoia sets in amidst fear of the future, the Christian should be the most bold to declare that the future which many scientists and the media paints as bleak is divergent from what the Bible talks of the future.
Our hope is in our King whose Kingdom cannot be shaken, not by wars, not by economic worries or even by Climate Change. God is above all circumstances and events; His Kingdom cannot be touched by disasters. If we are already worrying because of wars, famines, pestilences, plagues and the projected climate change, it only shows where we have put our faith. Though it is necessary that there will be turbulent changes that will occur on earth which never had happened yet, these are contractions as a woman about to give birth because His Kingdom is coming and will reign on earth soon. For this to be accomplished, we have to do our part, to pray that His Kingdom comes and His will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Every Christian should have this hope, that His Kingdom is coming and to set the earth once again in order.
The greatest force that have been prepared ahead for invasion will soon take this earth again and put it in order; the saints who died and now preparing to reign with Christ will soon come and put everything in right order. Wouldn’t it be great to join this invasion? In fact it is, and we have been sent ahead of this great force for the purpose of proclaiming the message of the Kingdom of God on earth. We are here just for that purpose, to know Christ and to proclaim Him to this world. Yes, the world has greatly changed from the age of Caesars and conquerors to the age of booming technology and global domination of man. Society has become pluralistic and multicultural but the heart of man has remained the same, there is a vacuum that only Christ can fill.
Just as the Lord has said, we must never be anxious or worry and every decision we must take must be based on what the Bible says. To do so, reading the Word of God has never become more essential and a need daily to keep us from the harm that is inherent in this highly perturbed world. Only His Word can shield us from every adverse effect of a negative environment. Like David let us wait for the Lord and find hope in His Word (Ps 130:5) because only His Word can sustain the weary soul, and protect us from every false step. By reading the Word of God and abiding in the Prince of Peace, we can exude God’s peace to this world and show them the way of Christ. By living holy lives we can teach them that morality does not only save from plagues but also brings joy and lasting relationships that does not hurt others. By keeping faithful to our Lord and our wives, we will be free to confront the plague of divorce that has affected everyone, even some who are in the church. Persistence and perseverance in times of danger, panic and moral filth is the new courage that should set afire everyone’s heart because hope is the anchor of the soul.
Therefore, gird your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance, but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; because it is written, "You shall be holy, for I am holy. 1 Peter 1:13-16
This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and one which enters within the veil. Heb 6:19
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more, as you see the day drawing near. Heb 10:23-25
