This book, which primarily narrates and expounds on how the theory of evolution has tried to bring confusion among men by supplanting the truth as revealed by the Scriptures, is absolutely contemporary and needed in our times. In the course of our era, and probably in the forthcoming centuries, it is vivid that if God’s people will not be vigilant in prayers and have strong fellowship with the Almighty God, all the truth will be overcome with fallacy in the society. The author has attempted to unmask one of the uttermost and deceitful philosophies which are geared by evolutionists in justifying their relativism. Such people are led by the father of lies, the devil, and trying to use education in various  fashions to mislead many. This is why the book talks explicitly on how men are trying to make a world of their own conceptions and draw from their own minds. Being attributed by lack of faith to the God who  dwells in  the heavens, while yet the evidence of His existence in their lives are obvious, men of belial lifted the theory of evolution in classrooms around the world.

In addition the author has shown how God, the Lord Almighty is awesome. He gives men what is just for them and to the disobedient, punishments were made ready. The punishments are always taken as a tool to whip them from insanity and lead them to truth. Men were endowed with precious things including education, in their lives. It has been shown that education started in the Garden of Eden with the Lord teaching men the right ways of living. However, since disobedience entered the world and men followed the devil, he too has perverted the message of education. He emerged sowing seeds of deception that blinded men from the truth.

With all the world following the devious myths and theories of men, the world is now vehemently shaking. The problem is so huge, as men are blinded and convinced that the seed of life on this planet came from nothing or from outer space. As this continue to happen, we are given into the hands of the destroyer and when the devil reigns, no living thing will be spared from life, he will ravage men with misery, deaths and bondages. When we allow evil to thrive, without question, this leads to wars, drought, economic crisis and lack of security in all aspects which itself is related to humanistic ideas released in the society.

I definitely concur with the author, when he tells  that the theory of evolution has bewitched a whole generation of men. Yet the truth shall prevail, and in every generation, the Lord has preserved himself, men who won't compromise with the flow of the moment,  beginning from Adam, to David, to the prophets and to Jesus and to the apostles until now, men should follow the truth. We need to agree that the world, including the flora and fauna found in it, were created by God through his Word. Upon reading this interesting and anointed work, you will find examples of great men, who during their eras attempted much to follow the truth. Though  they were now dead, yet they live because they walked with God without compromises.

I am quite sure that the reader of this book will find that the Lord is good and that He is merciful. But that he wants us to understand and run away from earthly wisdom. The tug of war here is because, earthly wisdom though clothed with gold is foolishness with God. This pollutes, corrupts and finally destroys the world. The consequences of these in the world are obviously the ruts and evil philosophies…The wisdom that worldly men esteem is foolishness with God. How justly does He despise, and how easily can He baffle and confound it! The thoughts of the wisest men in the world are but vanity, weakness, and full of folly in them. All this should teach us to be humble and make us willing to be taught of God, so that we will not be led astray by pretenses of human wisdom and skill, from the simple truths revealed by Christ.

"Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you thinks that he is wise in this age, he must become foolish, so that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness before God.

For it is written, “He is the one who catches the wise in their craftiness”; and again, “The Lord knows the reasonings of the wise, that they are useless.” (1 Corinthians 3:18-20)

"Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?

For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, God was well-pleased through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.

For indeed Jews ask for signs and Greeks search for wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block and to Gentiles foolishness,

but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men." (1 Corinthians 1:20-25)

Freedom from religious bondage

Edison Macusi, as in his title Umasking Evolution, is vying up to equip readers with principles and ways with which they may be freed from religious bondage. Most people in this world have been reared up in one form of religion or the other. Even in Africa, the continent wrongly thought by most western writers, as dark, people had a form of religion, worshippers of idols. Almost all people in the world have their own form of religion, whether they live as individuals or as a group. They may deny this but facts tell us that people tend to worship anything apart from a god. It seems the heart of man have been fashioned to have a focus and that is God; when denied this, it worships anything. The author has attempted to show that religion by itself is evil, as it helps people get happy, joy and find fulfillment. However, when this becomes controlled by those in authorities and the righteous things are discarded and followers forced to turn to men’s philosophies and aspirations, this unleashes evil.

Edison has basically, enumerated on the impacts of a religious oppression, of which it can impinge men from the light. The bondage it creates has  been shown to be the cruelest form of oppression man has undergone. This is because, they always release the beast within men and unleashes unholy desires. The impacts of these are seen, ranging from the authorities to the family level. Selfishness occurs rendering people to do even what is not proclaimed by religion. From these, the book shows that people need to be redeemed and to come to know the truth that shall set them free as  it is written, "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:32 KJV). People need to know spiritual liberty. This is what the author means here by being freed from religious bondage. Many may have witnessed the good and the bad that religion has done in their lives, but because of the death of Christ on the cross, this bondage of sin and captivity to the devil needs to be ended and broken; people must trust in the atoning work of Jesus Christ for this is the work that was finished, polished or refined as He had said, "I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do" (John 17:4b KJV).

The book also paves the way for the reader to take action and start treading to freedom. Much is written on how the devil has impoverished men’s mind to net men, under the cloak of religion. Religion then is seen by the author as the plans of men to search God. But God has a better plan than men’s plan as in Jeremiah 29:11 where He says "For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope."  We need to understand the priestly teachings and distinguish them clearly from the doctrines by man such as  the Roman Catholic church's holding to Mary as advocate. Many have been  kept blind in this and by reading this inspired book, the reader with the illumination of the Holy Spirit will come out free and hence reach a good destiny from such mediocrity.

Freedom will not be there if men keep mixing things up. The author embraces the ideas of putting away foreign gods, as for example when treading from darkness to light. He has elaborated on what revival is and showed that it is a tool to set men free so that they will come to know the truth. Throughout the book, religious bondage are shown to lead to anger, rage, malicious behavior, dirty language, misery and other troubles in man’s life. Based on this,  the core  teachings of the book stand and hence, we are hearkening to free ourselves from the bondage of religion, which is kept by the devil. There is joy and freedom once men acknowledge their darkness and come to the light of Christ Jesus. Those who do, come to the abode of the eternal light.
